FORTUNA

One of the most panoramic places in Venice features a sixteenth-century building topped by a tower that supports the golden ball. The gilded bronze ball held aloft by “atlases”, portrays the world dominated by the Statue of Fortune, this work by the sculptor Bernardo Falconi is a weather vane telling venetians at all times the direction of the wind. Just like the old buildings facing onto the “Grand Canal”, Ca’ d’Oro is a comfortable, happy home, a gracious home “following the wind” and directed toward the most refined and elegant stylishness.
